Sphene, or titanite, is a rare, vibrant gemstone known for exceptional fire and brilliance, often exceeding that of diamond. It typically displays yellow, green, or brown hues, with chrome sphene being highly valued.

a world-renowned mineral locality famous for producing rare and diverse mineral specimens.

Colors:
Yellow, green, orange, brown, and rarely, pink or red.
Fire (Dispersion): Extremely high (0.051), resulting in intense spectral colors.
Hardness: 5–5.5 on the Mohs scale, making it relatively soft and brittle.
Refractive Index: 1.84–2.11, producing strong brilliance.

Locality: Key sources include Pakistan, Madagascar, Mexico, Sri Lanka, and Canada.
Identification: High birefringence often causes visible doubling of facets.

High-quality gems over two carats are rare, with prices rising significantly for larger, clean stones. Green and yellow-green ("chrome") varieties are generally the most valuable.
